When You Visit the Site
The site runs on a server rented from netcup GmbH, a company based in Germany. To show a page, your IP address is processed technically for the duration of the connection. The entry server keeps no record of visits (access log). When a technical error occurs, only the time, the error code and the type of page concerned are recorded; no IP address, email address or account information is recorded.
The site has no tracking tools, advertising, analytics services or third-party content. When you follow a link to an external source, that site’s own rules apply.
Cookies
When you sign in to your account, a single session cookie is used. It is required to recognise your sign-in, expires after eight hours and is not sent to other sites. No cookie is set while you browse without signing in.
When You Create an Account
- Your email address and an irreversible hash of your password are stored; the password itself is not stored.
- Your sessions, your personal list, your saved searches and your section access are kept with your account.
- Verification and password reset messages are sent from DinAtlas’s own mail server.
- To limit abuse, sign-in and registration attempts are limited with per-minute counters. The counters hold IP addresses and email addresses not in plain form but as irreversible hashes.
- Account actions (such as signing in or changing the password) are written to an audit log with the account identifier.
These data are processed to provide the account and keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Data are not sold to third parties or passed on for advertising.
Retention and Erasure
You can close your account on the Account and Data Management page. Closing stops sign-in and section access; it does not erase data by itself. If you want your data erased, write to the email address above.
Your Rights
You have the right to access your data, to request its correction or erasure, to request restriction of processing, to object, and to receive your data in a portable format. You can download a copy of your data on the Account and Data Management page. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.
